“Solid Italian Loaf” was originally created and displayed as part of “Save It For Me,” a 2007 installation which explores the tropes and iconography of preserved objects, referring to uninhibited self-indulgence, feasting, and stockpiling. Bronze cakes, muffins, loaves of bread, and wine bottles become symbols of value and monuments to excess. Simultaneously, the installation functions as memento mori, reminding viewers of their impermanence.

Tallichet earned an MFA in Sculpture in 1983 at the University of Montana in Missoula, and she currently lives and works in Brooklyn.
