Lonnie Vigil prefers not to decorate the surface of his jars with painted designs. Instead, his work achieves its subtle and refined beauty from its elegant shape, the use of sparkling micaceous clay, and the carefully controlled circle of “clouds” that forms during the firing process. Vigil consistently receives prizes for his ceramics. He earned a first place award at the Santa Fe Indian Market in 1995 for this jar.
