Earthenware ceramics were produced both before and during the colonial period in most areas of Latin America, including Panama. This large redware vessel for storing water or grain was made during the early colonial period in the same technique of manufacture used before the arrival of Europeans. It illustrates the continuation of Indigenous art forms during the colonial period combined with floral decorative motifs derived from European art.
