The plywood chairs designed by the Eameses in the mid-1940s represent one of the great achievements in furniture design. Their chairs are technically innovative and economical to mass-produce. Few examples reveal their methods and preferences more clearly than these lounge and dining chairs with wood legs. In addition to the appeal of wood (for those who find metal unpleasant), the advantage of the all-wood chair is a greater uniformity of design, with a single material used for both supporting and supported elements.
