"Pablo Creek" confronts us with an enormous expanse of dripped paint, The plane of the canvas is no longer where the action takes place; the canvas is merely a support for the deep furrows of pigment that cover it. The crests and crevasses, together with the dozens of colors that form them, become Larry Poons’s new focus; form and color become inseparable. The painting is now a low relief.
