Known Provenance
Belonged to a noble Russian family who fled from Russia during the Revolution [note 1]. Luigi Bellini (Galleria Bellini, Florence); purchased 1926 from Luigi Bellini, Florence by Mr. Simon [1867-1941] and Mrs. Olga [1877-1970] Guggenheim, New York; gifted in trust 1958 by Mrs. Olga Guggenheim to the Denver Art Museum. [note 1] as reported in a letter, dated 10 Sept. 1928 (Guggenheim files) to Simon Guggenheim by F. Mason Perkins, Assisi Provenance research is on-going at the Denver Art Museum and we will post information as it becomes available.
