Untitled: Artist Takeover
Join us for the summer edition of Untitled: Artist Takeover! Wheelchair Sports Camp (pictured) and a cast of contributing creatives will present a program full of art, performances, and one-of-a-kind experiences.
The theme of the night is "A Real Spectacle: Fit in with the Freaks." Flip the script and join the (dis)play in an interactive evening with Wheelchair Sports Camp, inspired by the museum's Modern & Contemporary art collection, and in celebration of Disability Pride Month and the 35th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Contributing creatives include Kalyn Rose Heffernan, Gregg Ziemba, and Regan Linton, featuring Jello Biafra, Alice Wong, Midgitte Bardot, Gaelynn Lea, MG Bernard, Laurice Quinn, Chris Fonseca, Javier Flores, Lady Godiva, RAREBYRD$, Cripple Punk Alliance, Sam Barrasso & Romy Lopez, Stewart Tucker Lundy, Machete Mouth, Teresa Ngyuen, Michelle Rocqet, Jeremy Pape, Ratt Walsh, Lily Farias Torres, Jaimie Henthorn, Ed Sandoval, Chris Bagley, Nicole Moore, and more.
*Crip [krip], noun (slang). 1. A term used to refer to a person experiencing any form of disability, such as one or more impairments with physical, mental, learning, and sensory. 2. A term used in the disability community to reclaim and redefine the term “cripple”.

START HERE: Welcome Freaks (Hamilton Building, Level 1 Atrium)
Welcome to the spectacle. It’s a different kind of night with a different set of rules. Learn about the evening and get your VIP Crip Card to get started.
SPECTACLES: Not-to-miss moments happening throughout the evening. Participate in 3 experiences to get VIP seating at the Main Event. 6-8 pm. All spectacles are ongoing unless otherwise noted with*

- Relating Gustave Doré’s The Family of Street Acrobats: The Injured Child to past and current real-world barriers for people with disabilities. *Note: Tours start every 30 minutes, beginning at 6:30 pm
DROP-IN SPIRIT SPACE: Artmaking and Offerings for Those Not Here.

- Make an offering for those we have lost or those who are still here. Decorate ghost white mobility aids, wheelchair parts, or add your own creation.. *From 6-8 pm

- DIY temporary tattoos in remembrance of disabled icons. *From 6-9:30pm

THE BIG EVENT: Final performances for the evening.

- Attend the ceremony plus reception performance by Wheelchair Sports Camp. VIP seating for visitors with a full Crip Card. *From 8:30-9:30 pm

- Join our efforts to make the Denver Art Museum more accessible by sharing your thoughts: What would it look like if a museum not only welcomed people with disabilities but truly celebrated them?

- Inspired by the “Capitol Crawl”, a pivotal protest on March 12, 1990, where activists with disabilities crawled up the steps of the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, D.C., to advocate for the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
