Block Party at The Kirkland
Celebrate The Kirkland joining the Denver Art Museum at this free, family-friendly neighborhood block party on Sunday, July 27! After a year of working together to integrate visitor experience, this moment marks the full alignment of the DAM and The Kirkland and celebrates the collective power of creativity and community.
This Free Day will feature artmaking, food, musical performances, and more in Denver’s Golden Triangle. Enjoy:
- Free general admission for all ages
- Artmaking at the Creative Caravan
- Brief remarks and "ribbon tying" outside The Kirkland at 10 am
- The Kirkland Spotlight Talks
- Local vendors: At a pop-up shop on Bannock St., find featured items from The Shops at the Denver Art Museum and treasures from some of our local vendors, including BOMPOM (jewelry) and Sarah Christensen (ceramics)
- Face painting (thanks to Free Day sponsor Your 6 Front Range Toyota Stores)
- Food trucks: Colfax and Cream, Kary’s Rolling Café & Creperie, Lily’s Cocina, Ninja Ramen
- Musical performances: We’ve partnered with Swallow Hill Music, the Golden Triangle Creative District, and DNA Picasso to incorporate live musical performances on the Bannock Street throughout the day as follows:
- 10:30-11:15 am: Stephen Brooks Jazz Trio
- 11:30 am-12:15 pm: Halle Tomlinson
- 12:30-1:15 pm: Ryan Benthall Trio
- 1:30-2:15 pm: Iyanla
- 2:30-3:15 pm: Tina Phillips Trio
Please note, this event includes a road closure on Bannock Street between W 12th Ave and W 13th Ave from 7 am to 7 pm. Parking lots on the closed block of Bannock are accessible via the alley behind The Kirkland.
Members are invited to join us an hour early at 9 am for exclusive access to The Kirkland. In the Hamilton Building Studio, demo artist Kelly Eigenberger will host special ceramic artmaking demos from 12 to 3 pm.
