This year’s Luncheon by Design is a celebration of sneaker culture—from the artistry and entrepreneurialism of designers to iconic collaborations that fuse the worlds of athletics, celebrity, fashion, and art. Of course, no conversation is complete without the sneakerheads—the fans, followers and collectors who manifest the cultural significance and market power of these objects.

We welcome Elizabeth Semmelhack of the Bata Shoe Museum for a presentation highlighting creators and brands whose designs capture the zeitgeist, with a focus on collaborations in recent decades that have cemented sneakers in pop culture. In a panel discussion to follow, dive deeper into the creative process and how designers leverage originality and imagination in this dynamic industry.

The networking reception starts at 11:30 am, with lunch and opening remarks at 12 pm, followed by the keynote presentation and panel discussion. Afterward, attendees are invited to explore the museum at their leisure (general admission is included with the ticket).

Luncheon by Design 2023 is co-chaired by Rachelle Folsom, Koya Nyangi, and Morris Price. It is presented by Neiman Marcus and Amanda J. Precourt. Proceeds will benefit acquisitions by the Architecture and Design department.
