Class Details

What to Expect

During most classes, the instructor will demonstrate painting and present a lecture. Students will also work on prepping their surfaces for painting, and then working on their individual paintings. The instructor will offer feedback to each student throughout each class period. Students can expect to take home two finished works of art. Students do not need any prior knowledge for this course.

Class Timeline

This class meets every Wednesday for 4 weeks from April 5 to April 26 at 10 am-12 pm.

  • Class 1: Learning processes and safety protocols for painting, starting first painting still life.
  • Class 2: Continue still life.
  • Class 3: Begin landscape painting.
  • Class 4: Finish landscape painting.

All materials are included in class pricing and will be provided to students on the first day of class.

About the Educator

Samara Johnson was born and raised in Moose Pass, Alaska. The experiences of being raised in Alaska inspires her use of organic materials. She believes that by creating works of art as a community, we can all connect deeper to the communities of artists that came before us. Johnson holds a BFA in Drawing and Painting and a BA in French from Sonoma State University. In May 2020, she completed her MFA in Drawing and Painting at University of Colorado at Boulder.
