Spark inspiration and ignite your child's creativity this summer!

2022 Summer Camps

From June 6 to August 12, 2022, ignite your child’s inner artist with the Denver Art Museum’s Summer Camp offerings. Kids can get inspired by the DAM collection and create their own art.

Register online or by calling 720-913-0130. Registration for Members begins on Tuesday, February 8, and registration for nonmembers begins on Tuesday, February 15.

Ticket prices

Full day classes are $300 for members, $350 for non-members.

Registration

Please have the following information and payment method at the time of registration:

  • Name and phone number of child’s doctor
  • Insurance company name and policy number
  • List of child’s allergies and other needs
  • Your current email address and cell phone number
  • Emergency contact information
  • List of authorized pick-ups for your child

Scholarships

Scholarship opportunities will be available. Stay tuned for more information soon.

Meals and Snacks

Campers are required to bring their lunch every day. Pack a lunch with a cool pack as heating and refrigeration are not available. Please pack nut-free lunches to respect other campers with nut sensitivities.

A snack will be provided but please feel free to pack your own snacks as well, especially if your child has any dietary restrictions. All children are required to bring their own water bottle.

Aftercare

Aftercare will be available to purchase for an additional fee of $50 per week or $10 per day. Campers in aftercare may be picked up between 3:30-4:30 pm. We ask that you register for aftercare at least one week in advance.

Camp Safety

The DAM cares about the health and safety of your camper. We will be monitoring and following public health guidelines from the City and County of Denver for camps. To help us all stay healthy, face coverings may be required for campers, except during snacks and meals. Frequent hand-washing is also encouraged.

Camps for Ages 5-6

Sculpt This, Sculpt That

June 6-10 │ 9 am–3:30 pm

From clay vessels to abstract sculptures, we have it all in the museum! We’ll take what we see in the gallery and apply it to our art in the workshop. At the end of the week, you’ll have all kinds of sculptures to see with family and friends.

Storytelling in Art

June 13-17 │ 9 am–3:30 pm

Ever wanted to step inside a painting? Well, in this class we’ll shrink ourselves and jump inside of artworks and stories! Back in the workshop, we’ll use what we learned to make our own art.

Miniatures at the Museum

June 20-24 │ 9 am–3:30 pm

We’re scaling down the artwork but not the fun! This week we’ll learn how to make miniature versions of artworks and artwork-inspired objects.

The ABC’s of Art

June 27-July 1 │ 9 am–3:30 pm

In this class for our youngest museum friends, we’ll explore all the basics of art! We’ll learn all about textures, colors, and shapes through games, stories, and of course art projects!

Myths and Legends in Art

July 11-15 │ 9 am–3:30 pm

Once, long ago...This week we’ll read some stories and use them as inspiration to explore the museum galleries. Then, we will create beautiful works of art using various mediums, materials and, of course, our imaginations!

Color Pop!

July 18-22 │ 9 am–3:30 pm

What’s your favorite color? Learn how you can mix, match, and blend all the colors to create exciting art! Explore works of art in the galleries to see how artists get creative with colors. Find your true colors as we splatter, paint, and roll with a rainbow of colors.

Play with Patterns

July 25-29 │ 9 am–3:30 pm

From Butterfly wings to Navajo weavings, there are patterns everywhere! We’ll see how many patterns we can find in the galleries and create our own back in the workshop.

Where the Wild Things Are

August 1-5 │ 9 am–3:30 pm

Lions, and tigers, and bears, oh my! This week, get to know the animals in the museum's collection. If we look closely, we might see everything from jaguars in South America to polar bears in Alaska. Be sure to have your safari hats and binoculars ready for this adventure!

Mixed Media Mayhem

August 8-12 │ 9 am–3:30 pm

Experiment with all kinds of media, wood, paint, paper, dough, beads, and more! Take home art inspired by the many genres and materials seen in the museum’s varying collections, like abstract, architecture, representational, 2-D, and 3-D.

Around the World in Art

This week, we’ll travel around the world without even leaving the museum. We’ll discover all different kinds of places through artworks and let them inspire us back in the workshop!

Explore the museum collections with your artist's eye and develop your own signature style of seeing and creating art. Campers will use sketchbooks, learn the method behind various drawing and sketching techniques, and see where their doodles take them.

Calling All Filmmakers

July 25-29 │ 9 am–3:30 pm

In this stop motion animation class, we will be bringing art to life through animation! Learn to construct basic stop motion animations and claymation by drawing inspiration from the museum. We will host a cinema premiere and invite friends and family. Please bring a digital camera, a blank SD card, and a thumb drive to take your films home.

From Painting to Performance

August 1-5 │ 9 am–3:30 pm

Prowl the galleries to create an entire production inspired by the artwork. Together we will write, design, and act in a play to be performed in the museum!

Art-Inspired Writing

August 8-12 │ 9 am–3:30 pm

Could a sculpture inspire a poem? Could a painting inspire a play? Exercise your creative muscles this week as we use artwork as inspiration for our own creative writing projects.

Camps for Ages 9-11

Activate Your Inner Architect

June 6-10 │ 9 am–3:30 pm

Be an architect in training and explore how superstar architects Daniel Libeskind and Gio Ponti design buildings for art using angles and patterns. Visit great downtown art museums and get inspired to design your own museum.

Design Thinking

June 20-24 │ 9 am–3:30 pm

Redesign an everyday object: make it better and make it an NFT (a non-fungible token–which can technically contain anything digital or physical, including drawings, animated GIFs, songs, or items in video games). Pick up design skills like observation, brainstorming, prototyping, and testing. With these skills you’ll be designing a better world IRL and in the Metaverse!
