Mexican Modernism is sold out. Please explore virtual videos, photos, and more content related to the exhibition.

Where to go

When you arrive at the museum, you will be admitted no more than 10 minutes before the time on your ticket. Once you are admitted into the building, bring your scannable ticket (or display it on your smartphone) to the visitor services desk where your ticket will be scanned. Once your ticket is scanned, you will proceed to the exhibition entrance on the second floor. Keep your ticket out, as you will need to show it to a staff member outside the exhibition entrance.

Since your ticket to Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, and Mexican Modernism includes access to the rest of the museum, plan on visiting our other exhibitions on view after your visit to Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, and Mexican Modernism.

Access

The DAM strives to be accessible to everyone. Wheelchairs and strollers are welcome in the museum and galleries and may be borrowed from the visitor services desk, and are sanitized between each use. Scooters and motorized wheelchairs also are permitted, as are canes and walkers that convert to stools. You may also use the museum-provided gallery stools (available on each level of the museum). Gallery stools are cleaned between each use.

Learn more about museum accessibility.

Online Exhibition Guide

There will be no audio guide for the exhibition. The exhibition will be fully bilingual.

There will be a written guide containing the introductory wall text and selected artworks with extended labels available online. You can access this guide at home in advance, or onsite with your smartphone.

Dress

There's no need to dress formally. Please dress comfortably and in layers to adapt to the changing weather and the different temperatures in the museum. Comfortable shoes are critical for the amount of time you’ll be spending on your feet, as well as the start-and-stop walking that leads to aches and fatigue (otherwise known as “museum legs”).

Face coverings: Please note, face coverings are required for entry into the museum. Learn more about COVID-19 safety protocols.

Flower crowns: If you plan to wear a Frida-inspired flower crown, please use fake flowers only. Real flowers can deposit all kinds of things like bugs and spores that can be damaging to artworks so we do not allow real flowers in the galleries.

Food & Drink

The Callahan Café is currently closed. You can bring a sealable water bottle and drink only in the atrium on each floor (no water is allowed near artworks). Bottled water and snacks are available for sale.

The Shop

There will be an exit shop for Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, and Mexican Modernism exhibition. However, the shop will have limited capacities and may not be accessible to everyone going through the exhibition. All of the products in the exit shop will also be available in the main shop and the pop-up shop.

Lockers

There are currently a limited number of lockers available for use. Please leave large bags at home.

Parking

There is a lot of building construction happening in the Golden Triangle neighborhood. Please allow extra time for traffic and parking. The most convenient place to park is the Cultural Center Complex Garage at 12th Ave and Broadway. Please note, the DAM does not own or operate this garage. Directions and parking information.

Photography

We are a photography-friendly museum, and photography without a flash for personal use is permitted. To protect the artwork, please keep a safe distance from the paintings. Please do not use selfie sticks, tripods, monopods, or similar equipment in the galleries. Use the hashtag #FridaandDiegoatDAM to see what others are sharing online.

Martin Building Renovation

The Martin Building is under renovation. The Light Show, on levels 3 and 4 of the Hamilton Building, showcases objects from the DAM's collection. Depending on the time you are visiting, access to the rest of the Hamilton Building is included with your ticket to Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, and Mexican Modernism. There are some early and late hours when the only exhibition open is Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, and Mexican Modernism.

Questions

If you have any questions, feel free to ask at the visitor services desk on level one, or ask in advance by calling 720-913-0130. Staff throughout the museum are also happy to help.
