Amoako Boafo: Soul of Black Folks (Amoako Boafo: El alma del pueblo negro), la gira museística individual con la que debutará el artista ghanés Amoako Boafo (n. 1984). Esta exposición itinerante, organizada por el Contemporary Arts Museum Houston y el Museum of the African Diaspora, San Francisco, se inaugurará en Denver el 8 de octubre de 2023 y podrá visitarse hasta el 19 de febrero de 2024, en la Sala de la Familia Gallagher, ubicada en el primer nivel del Edificio Hamilton del museo.

Las obras de Boafo, uno de los artistas más aclamados de su generación, centran la mirada del espectador sobre la presencia de sus sujetos por medio de retratos que representan la vida de la gente negra. Amoako Boafo presenta más de 30 obras creadas entre 2016 y 2022, donde el artista manifiesta un dinámico uso del color, así como el espesor de las capas aplicadas con técnicas improvisadas como la de la pintura con los dedos. Sus obras centran activamente la subjetividad, la alegría y la mirada de la gente negra, sobre las que se fundamentan la inspiración y la práctica artística de Boafo. Esta presentación extiende el continuo compromiso del Denver Art Museum por destacar la obra de artistas contemporáneos negros, que incluyen exposiciones individuales de artistas como El Anatsui, Mark Bradford, Jordan Casteel, Nick Cave, Senga Nengudi y Simphiwe Ndzube, entre otros.
