Leticia Tanguma will be in the Paint Studio demonstrating portraits in oil and acrylic noon–3 pm June 29-30 & July 6-7, 2019. The Paint Studio is included with general admission, which is free for members and youth 18 and under.

There was so much energy among the participating artists, and so many great pictures, that it was awfully hard to settle on a final group. In conjunction with the exhibition Drawn to Glamour: Fashion Illustrations by Jim Howard (on view through August 5), this blog explores the history of dandyism through the lives and styles of two of the decidedly dapper icons featured in the paper doll book Four Famous Dandies.

Contemporary landscape photography from around the world is surveyed in the Denver Art Museum’s summer exhibition New Territory: Landscape Photography Today. The exhibition reflects on the environmental attitudes, perceptions, and values of our time through “observed” and “constructed” landscape imagery.
Jeff Rodriquez will be in the Costume Studio demonstrating costume prop fabrication July 29-30, 2017. The following interview was conducted in November 2016 for a previous demonstration he did in the Costume Studio.

Our fourth and last artist of the Cuatro[4]: A Series of Artist Interactions is art history professor and santero (someone who makes religious images), James Córdova. For his project, James is creating a triptych in the santero tradition that explores images of the conquest and paintings that came out of the Spanish Colonial period in Mexico. His piece, San Hipólito y las secuelas de la conquista, will offer an in-depth look at how the mixing of indigenous and European cultures came together to create a new visual vocabulary.
