While assembling his mixed-media installations from his collection of colorful found objects such as light bulbs, stationery from Bangkok, a roll of electrical tape that washed up on the beach, and odd-shaped bottles, Tucker Nichols likes to imagine that he’s creating “a proposal for a city of the future by an architect who didn’t know CAD” or “a description of life undersea for someone who’d never been snorkeling.” These alter egos reveal a refreshing perspective on how we might view the world anew through everyday objects.
