“The figures are metaphors for Indian people in the 20th century and they evoke the dichotomy of being a traditional Native in the contemporary world, where Indians watch the Super Bowl, but when feasts roll around they’re out dancing in kilts.” Inspired by prehistoric Mimbres narrative-style pottery and recent comic book art, Diego Romero frames his political commentary within the circular confines of bowls.
