Nampeyo's artistic interests were not confined to surface design but also included form. She reintroduced the beautiful low, wide-shouldered jars characteristic of the ancient village of Sikyatki. Producing the flattened shoulders required great skill and patience to prevent the wet clay from collapsing as successive coils were added.
