Acquired between 1817 and 1842 [probably between 1832 and 1842] by Johann Anton Ramboux, Germany [1790-1866, painter and collector]; sold [23 May?] 1867 in the auction of the Ramboux Collection. Munich art market? Purchased [1920s] by Mr. Edward Hutton, London; purchased 1938 from Mr. Edward Hutton, London by Mr. Simon [1867-1941] and Mrs. Olga [1877-1970] Guggenheim, New York; gifted 1962 by Mrs. Olga Guggenheim to the Denver Art Museum.
