Aureliano de Beruete y Moret [1876 1922], Madrid, by 1901.[1] (Montllor Brothers Spanish Antiques Shop, New York); (their sale, Plaza Art Galleries, New York, 5–7 May 1932, no. 514). (French and Co., Inc., New York); sold to Samuel H. Kress [1863-1955] on 7 December 1949; gift 1961 to the Denver Art Museum, no. 1961.67. [1] Beruete y Moret was director of the Prado museum in Madrid. He lent this painting to the Art Gallery of the Corporation of London in 1901, published in Descriptive and Biographical Catalogue of the Exhibition of the Works of Spanish Painters by A. G. Temple, p. 54, Cat. No. 62.
