Storage Jar Vietnam, Thanh Hoa 1000s-1100s Glazed stoneware Gift of the CharlesBayly Jr Collection 1954.40 Inspired by Chinese ceramics of the Song dynasty (960-1279), this storage jar is similar to those found in the northern Vietnamese province of Thanh Hoa. Its ivory-colored glaze is stained brown through burial. The jar has six strap handles around its shoulder, an embellishment characteristic of high quality ceramics of the period.
