Since 2007, the Logan Lecture Series at the Denver Art Museum has presented talks by over 120 contemporary artists.

Tickets are discounted for members and free for Museum Friends and students with valid ID. Tickets for the first lectures of the season are available now.

Logan Lecture: Jim Campbell

October 29, 2024 - 6 pm–7 pm

For the first lecture of the season, hear from artist Jim Campbell. Trained in mathematics and engineering, Campbell creates custom-built electronic sculptures and installations that have made him a pioneer of computer technology as an art form.

Sound and video artist Dylan McLaughlin (Diné) joins for a conversation about how his experimental music, improvisational performances, and multi-media installations examine the human impact on the environment.

Sonya Clark takes us behind the scenes into her practice of how she transforms everyday fiber materials—hair, flags, and found fabrics—into profound statements on race, culture, and class.

Logan Lecture: Candida Alvarez

February 11, 2025 - 6 pm–7 pm

The lecture series returns in 2025 with painter Candida Alvarez. She'll discuss how her "chatty abstractions" are born from close observations of her family—she grew up in a lively Puerto Rican household—and from her everyday experience.

Logan Lecture: Richard Misrach

March 11, 2025 - 6 pm–7 pm

For over 50 years, Richard Misrach has photographed the dynamic landscape of the American West. He'll discuss his decades of work in the region and his role in the resurgence of color photography and large-format images that are common practice today.

This is a joint lecture with the Photography department's Anderman Photography Lecture Series.

April 8, 2025 - 6 pm–7 pm

Artist Stephen Prina has has moved nimbly between the disciplines of painting, sculpture, photography, installation, and music. He'll discuss his journey as an "art polymath" and his decades of work in a variety of artistic media.

May 6, 2025 - 6 pm–7 pm

In the final lecture of the season, Iranian-American artist Shiva Ahmadi joins to talk about the vibrant fantasy realms she conjures in her art. Her work is informed by current events in the Middle East and the US, and inspired by Iranian, Turkish, and Indian book and miniature painting traditions.
