About the Program
The Spotlight Program showcases art created by artists in the Denver metro area. Dynamic, inventive, and vibrant—our communities are rich with creative expression. By highlighting the voices and work of local community members, we honor and celebrate the creativity that lies within us all. Organizations we've collaborated with in the past include Access Gallery, The Center on Colfax, Las Adelitas Living the Arts, the Stronghold Society, the University of Denver, and many others.
Adult spotlights are in the Creative Hub, located on level 1 of the Martin Building. Entry is included with general admission. If you are planning to visit with a group of 10 or more, please call ahead to the Group Services Department at 720-913-0086 or submit your information online.
Current Spotlight: The Veterans Arts Council Presents: Beyond the Military: From Combat to Canvas
On view through mid-February 2026
Beyond the Military: From Combat to Canvas is a powerful tribute to the creative journey of military veterans who have transformed their lived experiences into new visions through the visual arts. The art explores the complex terrain of life after military service, highlighting the emotional, psychological, and challenging evolution that unfolds when the weapons are set down, new lives are pursued, and the creative palette takes over.
This exhibition is organized by The Veterans Arts Council. The VAC showcases, mentors, educates, and provides economic opportunities for veteran artists working in any medium from all generations and service backgrounds. The VAC art gallery at VFW Post 1 is one of the largest galleries in Denver’s Art District on Santa Fe and is arguably one of the largest showcases of veteran artwork nationally.
