You are invited to donate a small snippet of your hair to be added to the artist’s costume. Sam Grabowska presents an interactive performance with video components generated by AI from text fragments of Grabowska’s family stories.

Performative and musical activation of a collaborative altar installation. Sculpture and video by Sam Grabowska, prints by Javier Flores, sound by Kalyn of Wheelchair Sports Camp and Gabriel Mervine, and other contributions from creative collaborators and visitors. Club discreto, an installation by Mexican-artist Alan Sierra for the exhibition Who tells a tale adds a tail, will host oral recitations of erotic LGBTQ literature in Spanish. Location: Hamilton Building, Level 4 Gallery

Drop-In Activities:

Reconstruction, 6-10 pm

Collaborative altar installation of offerings paying homage to the human remnants of past, present, and future, from Sam Grabowska and Javier Flores, video by Cherish Marquez and David Fraile. PARTICIPATE: Visit one of the artmaking activities or respond to the Icebreaker activity in Sturm Pavilion, and leave something of your own on the altar. Location: Sturm Pavilion, Martin Building Level 2

Reflection Candles, 6-10 pm

Take a tea candle and reflect on your journey through the evening. Write a word or draw a doodle for how each performance or art making activity made you feel. Rest your candle with the others on the altar. You can either choose to leave your candle or retrieve it at the end of the evening. Location: Sturm Pavilion, Martin Building Level 2

Resonate, 6-8:15 pm

Isaac Linder, DJ and sound artist, creates an exploratory soundscape weaving together sources that reflect on the materiality of recorded sound alongside field recordings made in current Denver Art Museum exhibitions, with video excerpts from David Fraile, Cherish Marquez, and Sam Grabowska. Location: Sturm Pavilion, Martin Building Level 2

Replicate, 6-9:30 pm

Learn about printmaking and make your own print with imagery from Javier Flores. You can also add your mark to a large collaborative drawing. Leave a print on the Reconstruction Altar in Sturm Pavilion! Location: Creative Hub, Martin Building Level 1

Remembering Our Path and Reassembling Our Future, 6-9:30pm

Create your own mini sculpture with remnants from Autumn T. Thomas, and experience her resin-encased sawdust footprints. Location: Ruby Red workshop, Creative Hub, Martin Building Level 1

Textile Mandalas (Hijos de Dios), 6-9:30 pm

Create colorful textile mandalas and connect to the universe and cosmos by creating with intention and energy, with Cindy Loya. Location: Sky Blue workshop, Creative Hub, Martin Building Level 1

Creative Hub Projections, 6-10 pm

  • Falling Seeds by Cherish Marquez: A video expressing the mysticism of textural objects from the desert.
  • Bloom and Unit Cells by David Fraile: A video that processes images of the natural world through circuit bent electronics. Natural structures emerge from pools of feedback and distorted electronic signals, producing strange hybrid forms.

Untitled: Creative Fusions is a quarterly collaboration with local artists and creatives to create an evening full of events, performances, artmaking, and one-of-a-kind experiences. Throughout the night, artists showcase their work while providing a hands-on and engaging atmosphere.
