Luncheon By Design 2022
Join Ojibwe author and Vogue Fashion and Style writer Christian Allaire for an inspiring presentation on Indigenous designers making waves in the fashion world. In conversation with Assistant Curator of Native Arts Dakota Hoska, Allaire will highlight the ways these artists incorporate Indigenous sensibilities into their creations while addressing priorities like sustainability, reverence, and appropriation.
With distinctive approaches rooted in the visual canons and conventional materials of their communities, these talented designers push forward with diverse interpretations of identity and style to produce stunning collections that are both deeply personal and broadly resonating.
The event begins at 11:30 am with arrivals and networking, with the lunch and presentation beginning at 12 pm. The virtual livestream will begin at 12:30 pm but will be viewable for one week following the event.

About the Speaker
Christian Allaire is the Fashion and Style writer at Vogue and a leading voice in contemporary Indigenous fashion. He is First Nations (Ojibwe) and grew up on the Nipissing First Nation reserve in Ontario, Canada. Now based in New York, Allaire’s work as a writer, editor, and stylist has been featured in outlets including Elle, Footwear News, Hazlitt, Mr. Porter, Refinery29, and more.

For years, Luncheon by Design has served as the not-to-be-missed fundraising event drawing Denver’s design community, lovers of architecture and fashion, and supporters of the architecture and design department for an exclusive presentation featuring renowned authors, scholars and designers.
