Colorado Day Art Market & SCFD Free Day
Celebrate Colorado creativity and artists on Colorado Day, in recognition of the state’s 150th anniversary!
The Colorado Day Art Market, on the museum plazas from 9:30 am to 4 pm, will showcase Colorado artists and artisans selling fine art and crafts. Walk the museum plaza and peruse fine art and crafts from nearly 50 local artists and artisans. During museum hours (10 am to 5 pm), explore art and activities throughout the museum. SCFD Free Days include access to the entire Denver Art Museum campus, including the Hamilton Building, Martin Building, and The Kirkland.

Event Day Schedule
9:30 am–4 pm: Colorado Day Art Market
Walk the museum plaza and peruse fine art and crafts, available for purchase, from nearly 50 local artists and artisans*.
10 am–5 pm: Denver Art Museum open – Free general admission for all!
Honor this Colorado milestone by exploring collections and artworks that celebrate the voices of local artists and Colorado perspectives. Visit Colorado locations through the eyes of printmakers in 'Round the Clock: 24 Hours of Colorado in Prints (The Kirkland). Then learn about artist and educator John E. Thompson, who impacted generations of Colorado artists, in John E. Thompson and Colorado Modernism (opens July 19, Martin Building, level 7).
11 am–3 pm: Creative License (Artmaking)
Design your own license plate in the Creative Hub (Martin Building, level 1) with the Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles. Learn about the process and artistry of these everyday art pieces.
11:30 am–3 pm: Spotlight Talk Extravaganza: Colorado Day
Docents are available throughout the museum for pop-up conversations about Colorado. They will share stories and answer questions about works of art featuring Colorado artists and locations. Drop in on multiple talks throughout the day to create your own customized tour.
12 pm–3 pm: Cosmic Studio Demo Artist: Larysa Medina
Get a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process and connect with local artist Larysa Medina. Larysa is a graphic designer and artist originally from Alamosa, Colorado. Her work as an artist draws upon her Chicana culture and the tattoo community. She is the designer of the Colorado Chicana/o Pride license plate.
2–4 pm: Native Arts Artists-in-Residence Gallery Talks
Join our 2026 Native Arts Artists-in-Residence CooXooEii Black, Adrian Stevens, Sean Snyder, and Benjamin L. West to celebrate their new installations in the museum's Home/Land section of the Indigenous Arts of North America galleries. Home/Land recognizes the Native Nations that call Denver and the surrounding region, today known as Colorado, their ancestral homelands. The installation honors the complex histories and enduring presence of Indigenous communities through the perspectives of these four contemporary artists.
