About Demonstrating Artist Jazz Holmes, Mixed Media Drawing and Painting
Jazz Holmes is a Denver-based artist who received her MFA with a drawing concentration from Colorado State University. She creates colorful mixed media works that are meant to convey social commentary and be a love letter to her Southern Black heritage. Using depictions of textiles, fashion, and staple food ingredients that sustained her throughout her upbringing, she attempts to showcase the tangled threads that link to her ancestral land and how society consumes these aspects of Black culture for profit.
