The Wild Studio is the theme for the museum's Studio space through September 14. Inspired by Maurice Sendak's Where the Wild Things Are, the Wild Studio is an artmaking space dedicated to making tactile experiences that evoke a connection to one’s inner playfulness and sense of joy.
Entry to the Wild Studio is included with general admission.
About the Artist
Jamie Chihuan is a Latino artist currently residing in Denver, CO, and is renowned for his captivating blend of surrealist painting, thought-provoking documentaries, and the enigmatic 'Cloak' photography series. Raised in Longmont, CO, by immigrant parents from Mexico and Peru, Chihuan's diverse cultural heritage ignited a vibrant imagination that would fuel his artistic journey.
A self-taught artist, Chihuan's unique perspective challenges traditional norms and delves into the complexities of identity. His neo-surrealist approach seamlessly intertwines personal experiences with universal themes, inviting viewers to explore the depths of their subconscious. Inspired by the surrealist movement, Chihuan's work often reflects the challenges of being a first-generation American, as he seeks to uncover his true identity through artistic expression.
