Watercolor Postcards
In this workshop, students will experiment with different watercolor techniques to make a set of 10 postcards. Students will learn wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry techniques to create miniature paintings. Subjects for these paintings include DAM-inspired artwork, landscapes, flowers, and abstract designs. The instructor will demonstrate and have examples of each of these styles.
What to Expect: Students will begin by roaming the galleries for a set period to look for inspiration. They will be challenged to re-create a loose, watercolor version of at least one chosen art piece for one of their experimental postcard designs. Participants will experiment with different techniques and subject matter and leave this workshop with several (10 or more) finished watercolor postcards that can be mailed or displayed.
Creative Classes are taught in a studio art environment and offer an opportunity to learn from professional creatives through traditional and experimental approaches. About the Educator
Elizabeth Truskin is an artist from Denver who specializes in portraits and mixed-media paintings. Her work is featured in galleries along the front range and consistently at Next Gallery in Lakewood, CO. Truskin teaches art classes for Denver Public Schools, Redline Contemporary Arts Center, Denver Recreational Centers, and the Denver Art Museum.
