Class Details

What to Expect

Students can expect to be playing with cyanotype processes from laying their objects on top of the pre-treated cloth to drawing on transparencies, culminating in final images uncovered by light exposure. The results will be small experiments from which students can achieve many finished works. Students do not need any prior knowledge for this course.

About the Educator

Samara Johnson was born and raised in Moose Pass, Alaska. The experiences of being raised in Alaska inspires her use of organic materials. She believes that by creating works of art as a community, we can all connect deeper to the communities of artists that came before us. Johnson holds a bachelor's of fine arts in drawing and painting and a bachelor's of arts in French from Sonoma State University. In May 2020, she completed her masters of fine arts in drawing and painting at University of Colorado at Boulder.
