Registration opens at 10 am MST on the following dates:

- Wednesday, May 17: All members
- Friday, May 19: Open to everyone
Please be aware space is limited and advance registration is required.
Pricing Information
For 6-week and 4-week classes, students will purchase their own materials. No Studio Fee.
For 1-day workshops, all materials provided with an additional Studio Fee of $30–$90.

Class Details
Location
Creative Classes are held in the DAM’s state-of-the-art classrooms, located inside the Bartlit Learning and Engagement Center on level 1 of the Martin Building.
Class Cancellation Policy
If a class or workshop needs to be cancelled due to inclement weather or teacher illness, a “make-up” day will be scheduled on a Friday or Saturday as the educator’s schedule allows.
What to Expect
The workshop will be structured into three parts:
- Hour 1: Lecture on the history of casting and casting processes used in art, with a reference to specific artworks in the DAM’s collection.
- Hour 2: Demo of materials and process (30 minutes) + sketching and brainstorming session (30 minutes)
- Hour 3-4: Students create their cast sculptural candles
*Note: Students will need to pick the candle up the next day once the candle has set.
Materials
All materials will be provided by the teacher and are included in the price for this workshop.*

About the Educator
Amy Hoagland (she/her) creates sculptural installations about the human relationship within nature. She received her BFA from the University of Kentucky in 2016 and her MFA in Sculpture from University of Colorado, Boulder in 2022. She is a recipient of a 2022 Windgate Fellowship for sustainable art presented by Honoring the Future. Amy has completed residencies with the Arctic Circle program, Mountain Research Station in Nederland, CO, Marpha Foundation in Marpha, Nepal, Casa Lü in Mexico City, Firehouse Art Center in Longmont, CO, and the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve in Matfield Green, Kansas. Amy has recently had several solo exhibitions: as a visiting artist for the Kentucky College of Art and Design in 2019 as well as the Firehouse Art Center and Arbor Institute in 2021. In August, 2022, she created a public art installation curated by the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art in One Boulder Plaza. She has exhibited internationally in Mexico City and nationally including Los Angeles, Austin, Denver, and Portland. She currently resides in Denver, Colorado.
