I’ve been going to museums for most of my life. I like going with my grandparents because I love spending time with them. We go to zoos, the aquarium, science museums, and art museums. We get to see art and other interesting things, do activities, and shop. I like to hear their perspectives about the artworks and how it might compare to stories from their lives. We moved to Denver a year and a half ago, so now I get to go to the Denver Art Museum with my family.
There’s always plenty for kids and families to explore at the Denver Art Museum. This summer, if you visit the museum with children, here are some suggestions for fun exhibitions and activities. All of the following are free for youth 18 and younger.

Holly Nordeck: What will you be demonstrating at the Denver Art Museum? What can visitors expect to see?

Howdy partners! Kids and families are invited to play a new gallery game as you explore The Western: An Epic in Art and Film. (This exhibition is free for youth 18 and younger. Learn more about adult ticket prices.)
The game will have you searching for different imagery of key aspects of the Western genre: people, places, and stories. The exhibition features sculpture, paintings, and video clips of well-known Western movies, so there’s plenty to look at and a lot of high-action content to keep everyone interested.
On Saturday, May 6, 2018 Native Arts Artist-in-Residence Gregg Deal will be painting a mural in the Native Arts Studio. Drop by to watch him work and chat about his process and inspiration!
If you’re coming downtown for Cinco de Mayo celebrations, we invite you to include the Denver Art Museum in your visit. The DAM features a host of programs and exhibitions for you and your family to explore Latino arts and culture.
Below are cinco ideas for things to do at the DAM during Cinco de Mayo. All of the following are included with general admission (which is free May 6). Youth 18 and younger always receive free general admission to the DAM.
Our fourth and last artist of the Cuatro[4]: A Series of Artist Interactions is art history professor and santero (someone who makes religious images), James Córdova. For his project, James is creating a triptych in the santero tradition that explores images of the conquest and paintings that came out of the Spanish Colonial period in Mexico. His piece, San Hipólito y las secuelas de la conquista, will offer an in-depth look at how the mixing of indigenous and European cultures came together to create a new visual vocabulary.
Colleen Audrey will be in the Costume Studio demonstrating cosmic character design April 8-9, 2017.
Holly Nordeck: What will you be demonstrating at the DAM?
