Dear Families,
We invite you to fall in love with art in February at the Denver Art Museum!
Swoon over Free First Saturday (February 3)
Free First Saturday on February 3 will have you swooning with joy! Take a walk on the wild side in the family fun space, A Walk in the Woods! Play, imagine, and make art to take home. Spot birds in a colorful flock, mix-and-match animal costumes to create new creatures; build horse sculptures inspired by artist Deborah Butterfield, and make a shadowbox to display your favorite creatures.
Happy New Year! It’s time to set some resolutions. Let the Denver Art Museum start you off on the right foot in the month of January.
Resolution #1: Have fun as a family!
December is packed full of things for families to do at the DAM. The North Building might be closed, but there is so much to do in the Hamilton Building, you may want to come back multiple times to join in all the fun! As always, youth 18 and under receive free general admission to the DAM.
A New Create-n-Take: Starting December 2 (available weekends and school breaks)
Yes, you can! The video game Never Alone is part of the Denver Art Museum exhibition Stampede: Animals in Art.
What is Never Alone?
In Never Alone (also known as Kisima Inŋitchuŋa in the Alaska Native Iñupiaq language), players take on the roles of a young Iñupiaq girl and an arctic fox in an atmospheric puzzle platformer that combines traditional stories, settings, and characters that have been handed down over generations by Alaska Native people whose roots and heritage date back millennia.
Denver citizens voted in favor of the Our Denver Bond measure 2B on November 7. Measure 2B supports the preservation of and upgrades to the region’s cultural institutions. It is part of the city’s 2A–2G bond package to fix city infrastructure in every neighborhood and help Denver continue to be a great place to live. City voters elected to support all seven bond measures, investing in infrastructure as well as public safety, and recreational and cultural facilities across the Mile High City.
Fall programming has definitely kicked into high gear at the Denver Art Museum. Come visit us and take part in our countless family offerings as we celebrate the final weeks before the North Building Renovation project gets underway. Youth 18 and under receive free general admission to the DAM.
Kicking off a very busy November is Free First Saturday. On November 4, drop in and listen to the stories behind the objects with storytellers during our bilingual program Cuentos del Arte. Stories are at 11:30 am and 1 pm.
Make sure to drop off your ballot at a polling center or drop-off box on or before Election Day, November 7, 2017. For more information, visit DenverVotes.org. (The ballot mail-in deadline has passed.)
This November, City of Denver voters will have the opportunity to support public investment in infrastructure through the Our Denver Bonds measures 2A–2G. These measures are a plan to fix city infrastructure in every neighborhood.
Keeps Denver a Great Place to Live
Autumn has arrived! As the weather cools outside, head inside to the Denver Art Museum for a bundle of new activities to enjoy. Youth 18 and under receive free general admission to the DAM. October 7 is Free First Saturday—general admission is free for everyone.

I’ve been going to museums for most of my life. I like going with my grandparents because I love spending time with them. We go to zoos, the aquarium, science museums, and art museums. We get to see art and other interesting things, do activities, and shop. I like to hear their perspectives about the artworks and how it might compare to stories from their lives. We moved to Denver a year and a half ago, so now I get to go to the Denver Art Museum with my family.
