What Visitors are Saying:

"My 6-year-old grandson was convinced he would not like the exhibit (he did not want to go to an art museum, and wanted to go swimming instead) but, it only took a few minutes for him to realize it was fascinating! He got a paper helmet to color and he tried on one of the costumes in the children's area [Just for Fun Center]." -P. W.

"I, my wife, and 13-year-old granddaughter had a wonderful time at the Samurai exhibition. Superb artifacts and an excellent display layout." -B. M.

"Fantastic display of samurai armor!!! We used the audio guides... and approached each display to view the close-up details." -F. S.

"It was fabulous. Loved every minute." -N. A.

"Wonderful exhibit. My grandson was very interested in all the facts and liked using the audio guide." -B. H.

"This was a truly amazing exhibit, it blew me away. All the details and how well everything was so preserved! My husband and I felt so lucky to be able to see this! We are still talking about it and telling everyone they have to see it! We are very thankful that the museum was showing this truly wonderful exhibit! We've seen many amazing things thanks to the Denver Art Museum! We can't wait to see what you will show next!" -K. C.

"One of the best I have seen." -C. B.

"Yes! My granddaughter and I thoroughly enjoyed the exhibit. It was very interesting and educational." -D. M.

"Excellent exhibit! I enjoyed the tour and my 9-year-old daughter was fascinated by the pieces. She read almost all the information plaques." -B. S.

"There were so many WOW moments—my 7-year-old son's jaw dropped when we turned the corner and saw the horses and riders in full armor." -K. R.

"The Samurai exhibit was without a doubt one of the most enjoyable exhibits we have seen in quite some time. The subject evokes mystery, and a romantic image. The presentation and choice of artifacts was well done, and the flow of the exhibit from start to finish kept me interested to see what was next. My wife and I felt like it was entertainment money well spent." -D. N.

"I was surprised by the intricate metalwork with floral patterns, butterflies and dragonflies, and helmet shapes inspired by eggplants, seashells, bamboo, and more." -K. H.

"Loved, loved, LOVED this exhibit! It was well displayed and I loved the addition of the audio. The gift shop afterwards was stocked with all of my favorite things from Japan. Excellent job!" -C. T.

"Excellent exhibit! It's wonderful to have such a nicely curated collection of armor and art on a fascinating piece of eastern history. There doesn't seem to be too much out there culturally on the samurai, especially in Denver, so it was great to see this. One of the best exhibits I've seen at the Denver Art Museum in a long time." -W. S.

"This was the best exhibit I'd attended in a while... The layout was great, the art direction was perfect, the staff were friendly and helpful (even when my flash went off accidentally), and I really enjoyed the choice of self guided tours so I could choose the adult version rather than the family version. Thank you so much for doing such a GREAT JOB!!!!" -K. L.

"Thank you for providing such a beautiful and powerful exhibit. The pieces were absolutely beautiful and amazingly well-preserved. The presentation was excellent; the layout, the color palate and the lighting all enhanced the experience. As someone who has spent many years in the martial arts, it was moving to see these artifacts in person. I don't know if I will ever make it to Japan in my lifetime, but I feel that I got a little closer to that goal last Friday. You provided a memorable experience for me and my sons." -K. G.
