Flash Back to 1971 & the Opening of the North Building—'Denver's New Showcase for Art'

In honor of the Denver Art Museum's 125th anniversary, we're taking a look back through our archives.

When the North Building opened in 1971 The Denver Post ran a special supplement to their Sunday magazine, Empire.

Flip through it to see what has changed and what remains the same. For example, Degas' Dance Examination (Examen de Danse) was featured in an article here and it's now on view at the DAM through May 20. The DAM is still a showcase for art and the North Building is getting spruced up to bring more treasures out of storage.
