Mi Tierra: Contemporary Artists Explore Place through October 22
Mi Tierra features site-specific installations by 13 Latino artists that express experiences of contemporary life in the American West. Dynamic artworks were created by Carmen Argote (Los Angeles), Jaime Carrejo (Denver), Gabriel Dawe (Dallas), Claudio Dicochea (San Antonio), Daniela Edburg (San Miguel de Allende), Justin Favela (Las Vegas), Ana Teresa Fernández (San Francisco), Ramiro Gomez (West Hollywood), John Jota Leaños (San Francisco), Dmitri Obergfell (Denver), Ruben Ochoa (Los Angeles), Daisy Quezada (Santa Fe), and Xochi Solis (Austin).
La Musidora through October 29
La Musidora is a combination of the Spanish words "la música" (music) and "la mecedora" (rocking chair). Take part in this interactive outdoor art installation located on Martin Plaza near the museum's Hamilton Building entrance. Make musical sounds by gently rocking colorfully woven chairs in tandem. This 90-foot artwork seats a total of 20 visitors at a time. Watch the video below to learn more.
Common Ground: Photographs by Fazal Sheikh, 1989-2013, through November 12
Common Ground: , is a survey of the nearly 25-year career of the critically acclaimed photographer Fazal Sheikh. Born and raised in New York City, the artist has focused on raising awareness of international human rights issues through his documentary-based photography practice.
