The museum now has its own shiny, new Tumblr account, managed by our adult and college programs team at the DAM. Those of you who have been loyal followers may remember The Collective website, where we posted stories, creative challenges, pics, and more. That site lives on in a new (more nimble) form as the Denver Art Museum Collective. We’re excited to be able to bring you the very latest of what’s happening at the DAM and also interesting finds from artists and museums around the world.
Using Tumblr allows us to share even more of the amazing output that local creatives produce for every Untitled. Not only are we lightning fast with uploading pics on the fly (did you see the supplies Ladies Fancywork Society brought to their install?), but we’ve also got a few pages dedicated just to music and sounds. Pop over to the Partner Playlist page to listen to the favorite tunes of Denver creatives and jam to their signature soundtracks while you work.
Untitled also has so many performances, readings, and all around awesome audio clips that it seemed a shame not to be able to share those with a wider audience. The Sounds of Untitled page highlights the many mind-blowing, outstanding performers that have been part of our program. Hear Esmé Patterson from Denver band Paper Bird, singing a new song written in response to the museum’s architecture. Find a quiet spot and listen to the eloquent words of local poets who wrote new works inspired by art in the galleries. Catch the tune that DJ Man Mantis created just for this summer’s Nick Cave performance at the DAM.
You’ll also be able to connect with our collections in exciting ways, both old and new. We’ve still got Digital DIYs, the series where we mix art history know-how with a do-it-yourself project. From recipes to lace-making lessons, this is a little piece of the DAM you can try at home. Our latest series, called Pairings, connects to our on-site program of the same name. Online, Pairings are art-inspired match-ups designed by Denver creatives using the DAM collections. These are visual mood boards, a glimpse into what the DAM’s art inspires in others—whether it be street fashion, garden design, or just a new good book to read. Want to design one? The DAM’s Jaime Kopke, Rose Eason, and Lindsey Housel will be managing the account. We’ve gotten to know many of you through organizing Untitled final Fridays for the past several years, the adult courses (shameless plug: the next one, which is inspired by Passport to Paris, one starts November 3 and still has some spots available), and workshops.
