Creative-in-Residence program at the Denver Art Museum

Calling All Creatives: We Want You!

The Denver Art Museum is looking for its next creative-in-residence to work alongside staff and visitors May through August 2017 (selection criteria and submission guidelines). Our creative-in-residence program invites creatives working in a range of non-traditional mediums to cocreate work with us that responds to our museum collections and also looks to actively engage visitors in new ways.

Our previous creatives-in-residence have included a composer, a conceptual artist, a floral artist and a hip hop group with each residency providing unexpected, surprising, and playful experiences that have involved our visitors and our staff in the creative process. We have seen how our creatives-in-residence can inspire community connections and civic engagement and, in the process, help shift perceptions of the museum as a place where art is merely viewed into a creative hub for social and civic interactions. We are excited by the potential this residency has to enable the DAM and its next creative-in-residence to explore together how we can continue to build a safe, public gathering space where community issues and calls to actions can be voiced and where our visitors and staff can more actively participate in the exciting creative evolution we see happening in Denver.

Creatives from diverse disciplines (i.e. graphic designers, chefs, dancers, etc.) are encouraged to applyand individual as well as collective applications are welcome. Submissions are due by noon Friday April 7.
