Boys & Girls Clubs Fine Arts Showcase

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver connect children to opportunities for community involvement and personal growth, including access to museums. The Denver Art Museum’s core educational values for creative thinking, expression, and transformative experiences help provide a platform for the emerging artists of the Boys & Girls Clubs.

Each year, members of all ages submit artwork to their local Boys & Girls Clubs Fine Arts Showcase to be juried by a panel of judges. The Denver Art Museum is proud to help jury and display the winners of this competition before the works are advanced to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America’s regional competition. This year, the show comprises of artworks in a variety of mediums, sizes, and styles. Each artist shows a strong understanding and application of the visual elements of art and communicates powerful messages about personal, social, environmental, and cultural issues happening in our world today. Artworks like La Calvavera Hermosa, Spirit Animal, and Journey to Myself combine cultural topics with personal insight and reflection. Glorious Garden and Ocean call our attention to the beauty and strength of our environment. While other works like Inferno (by Cristal Dominguez, artwork pictured at top), Mom, Money Does Grow on Trees, and Does Love Win? invite us to contemplate complicated social issues.

While visiting the museum, complete your experience by visiting this showcase full of talented young artists from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver. The showcase is on display through Wednesday, February 3, 2016 in the Lower Level of the North Building. Access to the showcase is included in general admission.
