Book Club: Gee’s Bend

Saturday, May 10, 3:00 pm

North Building, Level 6

Gather with friends at the museum as we unearth the intimate stories of the Gee’s Bend quilters. Elyzabeth Gregory Wilder’s play Gee’s Bend follows the lives of Sadie Pettway and the women of Gee’s Bend, Alabama, who created many of the magnificent quilts on view at the DAM. Immerse yourself in the play’s human tale of racial indignities and complex relationships, and delight as Sadie emerges as a respected artist and greatly admired human being. With Heather Nielsen, DAM master teacher for native arts.
