The Art of Ernest L. Blumenschein

Opens November 8, 2008

In the early 1900s, Ernest L. Blumenschein's iconic portrayals of adobe villages, Indian and Hispanic figures, and rocky vistas helped define perceptions of the American Southwest around the world.

A chance visit to New Mexico opened Blumenschein’s eyes to the wonders of the region, which would become the primary subject of his work for the rest of his life. Blumenschein was a founding member of the Taos Society of Artists, and his work won numerous accolades in both the United States and Europe. This exhibition features 66 paintings spanning Blumenschein’s career.

In Contemporary Rhythm: The Art of Ernest L. Blumenschein ends February 8, 2009. This exhibition is included with general admission; no additional exhibition ticket is required.
