Goddess of Transcendent Wisdom, Prajnaparamita

Prajnaparamita is the Buddhist Goddess of Transcendent Wisdom. This standing figure is one of a few surviving Prajnaparamita images that purport to be a likeness of the mother of King Jayavarman VII (reigned 1181–1218) or of his first wife, Queen Jayarajadevi.

The gentle smile and lowered eyes are features associated with sculptures from the Bayon temple built by Jayavarman VII, the last great ruler in the Angkor royal line.
