Baroque and rococo console table

This ornate console table is part of a group of objects that give visitors a dramatic demonstration of eighteenth-century French taste.

The table is a tour de force of carving that features popular baroque elements such as dolphins (at the center base) and winged dragons (on the side supports). The more delicate floral garland swags are typical of the slightly later rococo style.
