During the Colonial period, "dressed-statue" paintings of the Virgin Mary became extremely popular in the Americas.  They depicted various images of Mary that had gained a wide following on account or miracles ascribed to them. This talk will explore the genre of "dressed statue" paintings as well as specific examples
